No, it is not at all necessary. Basically you need to go to the study centre to get your books (also available at regional centres), submit assignments (compulsory), fill your examination form (can also be done at regional centre), for practical classes (if you have any practical subjects) and that’s it.
Can I give Ignou exam online?
The online exam will be conducted at the selected Exam Centres under closed circuit cameras. Students registered for online Exam are required to come to the selected Exam Centre for appearing in the exam. They should bring with them the Hall ticket and the Identity Card issued by IGNOU to appear in the Exam.
