What is influence in communication?
Communication moves information. Influence moves ideas into action, and produces an effect without the use of force or command. You can communicate without influencing, but you cannot influence without communicating. Influence is the act of moving another person toward action without the use of direct power.

How age can influence the way we communicate with each other?
Aging is responsible for physiologic changes in hearing, voice, and speech processes. A person’s age can be predicted with fair accuracy by speech characteristics including voice tremor, pitch, speaking rate, loudness, and fluency. Some language skills remain intact, whereas others tend to decline.

The three components of a communication, from a pragmatic point of view, are:
- Locution–the semantic or literal significance of the utterance;
- Illocution–the intention of the speaker; and.
- Perlocution–how it was received by the listener.
How does language support the structure of community culture and identity?
Language is intrinsically related to culture. It performs the social function of communication of the group values, beliefs and customs, and fosters feelings of group identity (Bakhtin 1981). In other words, language is the medium through which groups preserve their innate cultures and keep their traditions alive.
